When it comes to having a job in the spotlight, celebrities require fast recoveries from plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Malcolm Lesavoy has had the pleasure of assisting Playboy Playmate, Michelle Farrell, in several cosmetic surgery procedures. Michelle’s breast augmentation and rhinoplasty procedures were performed all in the same day by Dr. Lesavoy and his experienced team, so Michelle Farrell was able to have a swift and effective recovery.
Breast augmentation surgery
Although she previously had breast implants placed, Michelle was unhappy with their appearance. Dr. Lesavoy asked her if she wanted her breasts to look false or natural. Michelle explained that she wanted the authenticity of her breasts to be something of a mystery to those around her, with them looking so natural that people would always wonder if they were real, or if they were artificial.
For all breast augmentation surgeries, the procedure is performed while the patient is under a general anesthetic. In Michelle’s procedure, Dr. Lesavoy made small discreet incisions to remove the old implants, which were then discarded. He then used sizers to help find the best size of implant for Michelle’s new chest. Michelle had opted for silicone implants, and Dr. Lesavoy explained that round implants are just as effective as newly requested teardrop shaped varieties, as the silicone moves in line with gravity.
Dr. Lesavoy also took the time to explain the reasons that he places the implants above, rather than below the muscle. One of the main reasons for this is because the muscles in the chest are connected to the arm. Therefore, when a patient who has an implant placed under the muscle moves their arm, the implant underneath the chest muscle may move inappropriately too.
After breast augmentation surgery, it is normal for the patient to be in some discomfort for at least the first week. Swelling and bruising should be expected, and your surgeon will provide pain and anti-inflammatory medications to help you remain as comfortable as possible.
Although the initial bandages will be able to be removed after 5-6 days, it will still be several months before all of the swelling subsides, and the final appearance of your breasts is visible.
Michelle’s new breasts were unveiled 5 days post-surgery, and she was ecstatic with their appearance! Although bigger, they still looked natural, and Michelle was surprised and delighted to find that she retained the sensation in her nipples.
Michelle Farrell’s Rhinoplasty
Michelle was also unhappy with the appearance of her nose, which had a hump along the bridge and a large, bulbous tip. Rhinoplasty surgery can be used to alter the size, shape, and overall appearance of the nose. As she was already under general anesthetic, Dr. Lesavoy used packs containing cocaine to constrict the blood vessels in her nose and minimize any bleeding.
During her procedure, Dr. Lesavoy explained that the nose is made up of three different layers – the skin, the lining (also known as the mucosa) and the bone/cartilage that forms the main structure. During rhinoplasty procedures, all three layers of the affected area of the nose are separated so that the bone and/or cartilage can be reshaped in the desired way. The skin is then placed back over the new, improved shape.
In Michelle’s surgery, Dr. Lesavoy refined the tip of her nose by reshaping the lower lateral cartilage. He also addressed the bump in the bridge of her nose, smoothening it out, so it was no longer pronounced.
Rhinoplasty recovery is usually straightforward. Most patients will take off from work for around a week, once the initial swelling and bruising has subsided. Some pain is to be expected during this first week, and you will be prescribed medications to help keep you comfortable.
Michelle’s new nose was unveiled 7 days later, and she was beyond delighted with the result. Dr. Lesavoy advised her that the swelling would continue
